“An Immensity of Silence” is created from four paintings, size 36″x 36. ” Each Encaustic painting stands alone and can be purchased individually or in multiples. Pictured here the paintings create a quadratych size 72″ x 72.”
Up to 50+ layers of purified beeswax mixed with earth pigments and a fir-tree resin called damar are painted on Russian Baltic birch panels then each layer fused with the flame of a torch to the layer beneath. My minimal aesthetic and choice of all-natural earth elements create patina and texture that is storied, translucent, and luminous. In this simplicity unexpected levels of complexity surface.
The meeting place of land and sea where earth and water merge; the fleeting moment between time and space where one gives way to the other.
